Privacy & data
How BarrierScan handles your information. Last updated 11 June 2026.
Who we are
BarrierScan (an independent, founder-operated business — full legal details available by email) provides automated website accessibility audits. Contact us any time at hello@trybarrierscan.com.
If you requested a free scan or bought a report
We collect the website URL and email address you provide. We use them to run the accessibility scan you asked for and email you the results, and (if you buy) to deliver and support your report. Legal basis: performing the service you requested (and your consent for the free scan). Payment is handled by our payment processor (Stripe / Paddle); we never see your full card details. We keep scan records and reports while we provide the service and for a reasonable period afterwards for support and accounting, then delete them.
If we contacted you with findings about your site
We sent you a one-off message to a business address because our automated tools flagged potential accessibility issues on your company's public website. We obtained your business contact details (name, role, work email) from public sources: your company website, public professional profiles (e.g. LinkedIn), business registries, and business-contact databases.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest (and yours) in flagging accessibility and legal exposure relevant to your business — balanced against your rights, which is why our outreach is low-volume, individually relevant, and instantly stoppable. (For US recipients, our email also follows the CAN-SPAM Act.)
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it — including the right to object to our outreach at any time. Email hello@trybarrierscan.com and we'll action it promptly (and within the timeframes your local law requires). If you're in the EU/UK and unhappy with our response, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent your data. We don't add you to a newsletter from a cold email. We don't run advertising trackers on this site. We scan only publicly accessible pages of the website provided — we never log into, or attempt to access, anything private.
Where your data lives
Our scan and report data is processed using reputable cloud infrastructure and stored in our private repository. Subprocessors include our payment processor (Stripe/Paddle), email provider (Google Workspace), and hosting/scan infrastructure (Cloudflare / GitHub). Email us for current details.
